In this panel James Furrow, Annette Kreuz-Smolinski and Nick Child, three well-established family therapists, from three different cultures, present their ‹story› of development as couples therapists. Through narratives of their personal journey and experience, they will discuss their perspective on couples therapy and its relation to the family therapy approach.
Susan Johnson, creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a ground-breaking approach to couples therapy today, will share her comments on the presentations.
We will then engage in an interactive conversation both between the presenters and with the audience.
Does the family therapy approach prepare for the novel challenge of working systemically and systematically with partners› relational crisis and inner emotional distress? Should couples therapy be considered a separate therapeutic discipline? Or can we integrate couples therapy into systemic family therapy and how?
