In Germany there is a huge population of Turkish immigrants. These immigrants went to Germany just for a short period of time. This thought never came true for most of the families.
The main idea was to save money and come back in few years. They bought the houses and cars, which were their aim to go Germany. Because of these reasons, these people never wanted to learn German, integrate with the society. These immigrants were generally from low social economic level. After a short time, these immigrants made ethnic ghettoes like Kreuzberg, Berlin. Today especially the first generation still doesn't speak German. In the big cities like Frankfurt you can live your life by using Turkish. You can find Turkish speaking doctors, psychologist and other daily life needs. Also you can watch Turkish TV, which makes people to feel closer to Turkey.
We believe in the globalize world, identity formation, cross-cultural values are important. The world is full of cultures and especially in the some countries for example Germany several cultures lives together. Our questions are how people can have healthy identity in today's world? How can we have multi cultural fen omens in our identity? For doing this you have to look around your self and be aware of the world. In the ethnic ghettoes there are so many problems. In their little groups they are trying to exist in life. Because of this reason they are staying away from the country they live. After 1970's, some of the groups, stayed in the little groups never changed and kept the 1970's ideology and culture. By the way Turkish systems and understanding have been changed. Because of this change they stayed in their little ghettoes more than ever. That means never felt close to their home country and host country together.
As Association for Child and Mental Health, we are planning to have a project with a German partner to do multiple family therapies in Germany with a group of psychologist, psychiatrist, social workers and psychiatry nurses from both Turkey and Germany. Our target group will be the first and second generation of Turkish immigrants. Also we are planning to do “youth groups” with the third generation of Turkish youth.
We want to use this method for opening the ethnic ghettoes and helping them to integrate more to the society they live in. Every fen omen from life together and integrates as a result of this process and than healthy identity becomes. Awareness is very important. We are planning to open these ethnic ghettoes and make them healthy, more integrated, open people.
Our presentation will be about, the project which Association for Child and Mental Health will hold in a long-term period
